Big Idea: God is Bigger than Politics
(Slide 3) there’s a big difference between having the right understanding and having the right focus.
(Slide 5) “the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10
(Slide 7) sometimes it’s easy to lose our focus.
(Slide 9) It’s easy to focus on what WE think is important and ignore what God thinks is important.
(Slide 11) “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it. Luke 8:5
(Slide 13) And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. Luke 8:6
(slide 15) And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. 8 And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold.” Luke 8:7-8
(slide 17) The seed is the word of God. Luke 8:11
(slide 19) the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience. Luke 8:15
(Slide 21) The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. Luke 8:12
(slide 23) And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away. Luke 8:13
(Slide 25) And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. Luke 8:14
(Slide 27) their focus is on the wrong things.
(slide 29) They were focused on the things that THEY thought were important.
(slide 30) and they ignored the things that God thinks are important.
(slide 32) they didn’t have an understanding problem. They had a focus problem.
(slide 34) So Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him: “God forbid, Lord! This must not happen to you!” Matthew 16:22
(slide 36) “God forbid, Lord! This must not happen to you!” Matthew 16:22
(slide 38) “You are a stumbling block to me, because you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but on man’s.” Matthew 16:23
(slide 40) Peter didn’t have an understanding problem. He had a focus problem.
(slide 42) right now it’s easy to get distracted.
(slide 45) On January 6th
(slide 46) On January 7th
(slide 47) On January 15th
(slide 48) On January 17th
(slide 49) On January 20th

(slide 55) right now it’s easy to get distracted.
(slide 57) Politics should never take God’s place.
(slide 59) “the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10
(slide 61) You are the light of the world. Matthew 5:14.
