Sabbath
5.18.2025

Remember the Sabbath.

“Every leader in Israel who lives within your walls is bent on murder. 7 Fathers and mothers are treated with contempt. Foreigners are forced to pay for protection. Orphans and widows are wronged and oppressed among you. Ezekiel 22:6-7

You despise my holy things and violate my Sabbath days of rest.

People accuse others falsely and send them to their death. Ezekiel 22:9

God takes the Sabbath incredibly seriously!

You shall keep the Sabbath, because it is holy for you. Everyone who profanes it shall be put to death. Whoever does any work on it, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Exodus 31:14

But on the seventh day you shall have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. Exodus 35:2

Why was the Sabbath such a big deal to God?

Let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. Colossians 2:16

Why was the Sabbath such a big deal to God?

Keeping the Sabbath meant trusting God to take care of them.

The Sabbath was about trusting God.

Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you. Exodus 31:13

If we want to live UNFAZED, then we NEED to: Remember the Sabbath.

What does that mean?

What does remembering the sabbath look like to today?

Let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. Colossians 2:16

So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, (Hebrews 4:9)

Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. (Hebrews 4:11)

For we who have believed enter that rest, (Hebrews 4:3)

That you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you. Exodus 31:13

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Rest as an act of trust.

Who are you trusting?
