Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.”
Matthew 18:23

“Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to.
Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?”
Matthew 18:32-33

#1
Decide what kind of people we want to be.

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another,

forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:31-32

Pre-Offended

“God took a great risk by announcing forgiveness in advance.”

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8

#2
Decide whose code we’re going to live by

Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come,

but woe to him through whom they do come!

Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.
Luke 17:1-4

And the apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith.

So the Lord said, If you have faith as a mustard seed,

you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
Luke 17:5-6

#3
Decide who needs to get invited back to the table

We should be generous with forgiveness and discerning with reconciliation.

God specializes in forgiveness and reconciliation.

David asked, Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?
2 Samuel 9:1

“When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor.

David said, for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land … So Mephibosheth ate at David’s table like one of the king’s sons.
2 Samuel 9:6-11
