There are some things you just can’t say in 2024.

We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life”

21 “You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’

But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment!

Do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also.

40 If you are sued in court and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too.

42 Give to those who ask, and don’t turn away from those who want to borrow.

44  Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!

How do we take God’s word seriously, when his commands don’t seem possible?

Some people brought to him  a paralyzed man on a mat.

Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “Be encouraged, my child! Your sins are forgiven.”

Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”

“Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home,”

In the natural order, Jesus’ words don’t make sense.

“Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home,”

Then the man got up and went home.

When God Commands, he also Empowers

Today, we need to stop looking at God’s word as a burden and start looking at it like a lifeline.///

When God Commands he also Empowers.

17 When Jesus arrived at Bethany, he was told that Lazarus had already been in his grave for four days.

“Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.”

Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!”

When God Commands he also Empowers.

And the dead man came out,

Stop looking at God’s word as a burden and Start looking at it as our lifeline.

When God Commands he also Empowers.
